The San Diego Padres are optimistic in the free agent being signed by them to a contract that revived talks with Eric Hosmer will result.
The Padres are willing to give up the flexibility to court anyone offseason that is following in order to land the first baseman.
The San Diego Union-Tribune has reported that there is a gap between what the Padres have offered and agent Scott Boras is seeking for his customer. However, a report suggests that “there is a belief the sides are shut.”
Hosmer is reportedly seeking a deal worth $20 million annually.
