The Samford women's basketball team has been highly successful so far this season.

The Bulldogs are currently 6-2, with their only losses coming to LSU and George Washington, the No. 14 team in the country.
The Bulldogs swept the Florida Atlantic Classic by defeating Missouri and Florida Atlantic, Over the course of the tournament, the Bulldogs had four players with double-digit figures.

Since the beginning of the season, the Bulldogs have had a variety of high scorers and rebounding contribution.
Emily London is the current leading scorer, averaging 11.3 per game. Senior Alex Munday closely follows London with 10.7 per game.

Several other Bulldog players have also contributed: Monica Maxwell, Taryn Towns, Karmen Smith and Chika Okoli have each been the Bulldogs' highest scorer in at least one game this year.

A progressing storyline for the team involves the two freshmen standouts, Savannah Hill and London.
Both Hill and London received honors at the FAU tournament. London received tournament MVP, and Hill was named to the all-tournament team.

Coach Mike Morris said the freshmen contribution has been critical to the team's success up to this point.

"We lost three mainstays from our program last year, and we needed people to step up in different roles this year," Morris said. "Megan, Alex, Taryn, and Monica, who is a sophomore, all have contributed to scoring. Emily and Savannah have come and meshed well with the team, and it's shown in their production.

"People are stepping up where we need them to right now."
Morris said every player is responding well to the game plan, and he is pleased with the team's progress so far.

"The team is evolving, and I like the rotation," Morris said. It's a good combination of versatility.

"We are ahead of the game offensively, but we have to catch up on defense."

Morris also said that the way his players play does not change based on which opponent the team is facing.
