Alumni visiting Samford's campus for the Homecoming festivities this weekend will enjoy more than just the Little Big Town concert in the new arena and a racy art display in the gallery.
Take a look around campus. The things that we current students take for granted are recent amenities that are enough to make any previous student think, "I wish all this was here when I was here!"
For example, the new parking deck and the music hall boast structural additions this past year. Academic programs like improved speaker series and additional major/minor choices promote a higher level of learning. Furthermore, Banner student self-registration represents a notable technological advancement that Samford lacked .
Even though many students and parents may complain about the rising cost of tuition, these exciting and long overdue changes certainly don't come cheap.
Fortunately, Samford has been blessed with benevolent donors - the Pete Hanna Center was funded privately - but it is our hope that returning alumni will be impressed enough with recent campus updates to realize the importance of continuing to support the University.
