Disability Awareness Week begins March 29, giving students the opportunity to take a look at the accessibility restrictions of Samford's campus. With a combination of hilly terrain, abundant staircases and buildings that outdate the Americans With Disabilities Act requirements, Samford's campus poses restrictions to individuals with disabilities.
Students who have surfed the web on Samford's campus have likely encountered the page that reads: "Web Page Unavailable from the Samford University Network. Category: G-Porn." Lately, students have begun to notice a growing number of sites blocked from Samford's network.

Birmingham resident Dexter McIntosh, the suspect involved in the Oct. 2009 shoplifting and shooting incident, pled guilty to charges of assault and was sentenced to six years in prison. The judge accepted a plea bargain after the suspect was initially charged with attempted murder, theft of property and a probation violation.
Samford baseball has almost finished building a new deck, to be finished by the end of the week, according to the marketing department for athletics. The construction of a raised deck around the outer edge of the Joe Lee Griffin field is one of many efforts underway to increase student involvement and enthusiasm at Samford baseball games, a marketing department representative said.

"The Hurt Locker" director Kathryn Bigelow took best director, becoming the first woman to win the directing award.
Samford's Kappa chapter of Alpha Delta Pi celebrated their centennial year this weekend with 350 alumni at Ross Bridge. Kappa has welcomed more than 1500 women into their sisterhood in its 100-year history at Judson College, Howard College and Samford University.
Last Friday the School of Arts took part in a six-hour fast from electronic communication. This "social experiment" was in response to queries about the amount of personal conversation and its role in the School of Arts and Samford University. The exercise included School of Arts students, faculty and staff who all refrained from email, facebook, texting and twitter from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Friday, March 5.
