Boris Johnson has apologised to businesses for the upheaval caused by the government’s self-isolation rules, but the chaos is being noticed in many sectors.
As you can see in the video above, supermarkets are reducing their stock and some are drafting in temporary staff to stay open.
Helen Dickinson, the head of the British Retail Consortium, told BBC Breakfast: “What we are seeing is limits on the availability of certain items in certain parts of the country because retail operations are being impacted by an increasing number of staff needing to isolate.
“The rules around self-isolation are not due to change until August 16 and that, right now, feels a long time away.”
