Facundo Pellestri has told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer what his preferred intention is in the transfer window this summer.

It comes after Manchester United beat Derby in a pre-season friendly, ending in a 2-1 win.

Tahith Chong opened the scoring in the first-half before Pellestri doubled the lead after the break.

Colin Kazim-Richards grabbed one back but it was not enough to save Wayne Rooney's side from losing – though there were some bright cameos from several United players that pleased Solskjaer.

One of them was Pellestri himself, who spent last season on loan at Alaves in La Liga and has been tipped to leave again on a temporary deal this summer.

Facundo Pellestri wants to stay and fight for his spot at United

However, the Uruguayan would love to stay and fight for his spot ahead of the new season.

After the match, the 19-year-old said: “As you said, I went on loan to Alaves, I felt good, now I’m here trying my best and always pushing forward to be the best.

“I would like to stay here but I’m still working hard, improving and will continue working.”

But if the teenager's wishes are abided by remains to be seen with United having a number of options on the wing too.

Jadon Sancho is set to sign imminently after agreeing a five-year contract with the Red Devils.

It comes after United and Borussia Dortmund settled on a £73m transfer fee following a saga that stretched on from last year.

Amad also signed in January while Dan James and Juan Mata remain at the club.

Fellow young prospects Anthony Elanga and Shola Shoretire will also be competing with Pellestri for a first-team spot over the next few years.

However, Solskjaer has admitted he was impressed by the ex-Penarol ace and that gives him a boost ahead of the new season.

“Very good goal. Good pass, then his first touch sets him up," the Red Devils boss said.

‘Then he’s very good at dribbling so going past the keeper wasn’t a problem. Composed.

“I thought he was bright when he came on.”

Meanwhile, another attacker to the squad ahead of the new season has been confirmed by Solskjaer in the form of Jesse Lingard.

The England international spent the latter half of the season on loan to West Ham last campaign.

And David Moyes was blown away by the midfielder, who desperately tried to keep him in east London.

But Solskjaer has insisted Longard is part of his plans next season and that he will not be allowed to leave.
