Arsenal take on Scottish champions Rangers on Saturday in their second pre-season friendly ahead of the 21/22 campaign.

They opened their warm-up matches against Hibernian on Tuesday which ended in a disappointing 2-1 defeat with many fans on social media questioning manager Mikel Arteta's position at the club.

After the match the boss said the underwhelming performance could have been due to the taxing training the players have been doing.

He said: "Well I'm always disappointed when we lose a football match but it is the first game, we played with many kids and we only had four training sessions.

"We've trained really hard and you could see that the players were a little bit leggy.

"I think we conceded the first goal, an accident, and the second goal was clearly offside. We created many, many chances but we didn't score.

"That's what pre-season is for, to take the things that we haven't done well into a training session and then improve."

Arteta will look for an improved outing against Rangers and here is all you need to know about the match.

For Rangers, Steven Gerrard is expected to give new signing John Lundstram a run-out. He could also call upon Fashion Sakala and Alfredo Morelos in attack while Niko Katic and Ryan Jack may not star due to injury.

And for Arsenal, Bukayo Saka, Granit Xhaka and Bernd Leno are still on holiday following Euro 2020 and so will not line-up against Rangers.

Kieran Tierney has returned to training though and could feature in the match, while Joe Willock could star after being not being able to play against Hibernian due to a tight groin.

Nuno Tavares is expected to make his non-competitive debut for the club.
