With the start of the new Premier League campaign rapidly approaching, clubs have been starting their pre-season preparations.

Players who were not involved at Euro 2020 or the Copa America have begun returning for training, with Chelsea welcoming back their stars to Cobham on Friday.

With Chelsea's first game of the season being just five weeks away, the Blues are expected to ramp up their dealings in the transfer market.

So far, their only major piece of business has been Fikayo Tomori completing a permanent move to AC Milan.

However, more incomings and outgoings are expected in the coming weeks, with manager Thomas Tuchel stating back in May that "two or three [new signings] could be very, very good."

With that in mind, Mirror Football rounds up the latest Chelsea transfer news…

AC Milan 'agree' Giroud fee

According to Di Marzio, Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud is nearing a move to AC Milan after the two clubs reached an agreement.

Milan will fork out €1million [£856,000] upfront plus a further €1m in add-ons for the veteran striker, with 'only small formalities' left to be sorted.

The report claims that Giroud, who is currently on holiday following France's Euro 2020 exit, could travel to Italy on Monday to undergo a medical and put pen to paper on a two-year contract.

Napoli boss hints at Emerson transfer

Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmieri looks set to depart Stamford Bridge this summer, having been heavily linked with a whole host of Serie A clubs.

Napoli are among the sides which are said to be interested in his services, having recently appointed Luciano Spalletti as their new manager.

Spalletti coached Emerson during his time in charge of Roma and he has hinted that the defender could join him at Napoli.

Speaking at his first press conference since taking the job, Spalletti was asked about the possibility of the club signing Emerson and he replied: "I can’t say if I called Emerson to join Napoli or not. Maybe yes, maybe it’s happened."

Chelsea make 'important approach' for Kounde

Chelsea have reportedly made an approach for Jules Kounde

According to Spanish outlet AS (as per Sport Witness), Chelsea have made an 'important approach' to sign Sevilla defender Jules Kounde.

The 22-year-old has been linked with a whole host of teams this summer, including the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United and Tottenham.

According to AS, Madrid are the only club in Spain who could complete a deal for Kounde, while Spurs are discounted as a potential destination because of their failure to qualify for next season's Champions League.

United are said to be focusing on their pursuit of Raphael Varane, but they could step up their interest in Kounde if that falls through.
