Erling Haaland has been heavily linked with a move away from Borussia Dortmund this summer, having been in impressive goalscoring form for the Bundesliga side.

Haaland has netted a total of 57 goals in 59 appearances in all competitions for Dortmund since signing for them back in January 2020.

The likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Manchester United have all been linked with the forward.

It has been widely reported that Haaland has a €75m (£64m) release clause in his contract which will come into effect next summer, but speculation persists that he could be on the move much sooner if a club is willing to stump up a lot of cash.

Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland has courted attention from Europe's biggest clubs

Chelsea and City are the most likely contenders, with both clubs in need of a new goalscorer and having mega-rich owners.

City, though, are believed to be focusing their efforts on Harry Kane, while Eurosport have claimed that the Blues will look to 'test the water' this summer in a bid to 'jump the queue'.

However, Dortmund are adamant that the player will be going nowhere, with their sporting director Michael Zorc recently outlining the club's stance.

"Nothing has changed," he is quoted as saying by German outlet Bild. "We are still planning with Erling for the new season."

Dortmund are already set to lose one of their star names this summer, having announced earlier this month that an agreement has been reached in principle for Jadon Sancho to join Manchester United.

An official statement from Dortmund confirmed: "Jadon Sancho is close to (a) move from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United.

"This is today’s agreement of both clubs and the player in principle. Upon realisation of this transfer Manchester United will pay BVB a fixed transfer compensation in the amount of 85m euros.

"The contractual details now have to be coordinated and completed. Moreover, the formal processing of the transfer is still subject to the successful completion of all necessary medical tests and examinations, a coordination procedure with the player’s previous club and the proper and timely processing in accordance with the provisions of the FIFA transfer matching system."

Dortmund's CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke added: "We reached a general agreement with Manchester United on the transfer of Jadon Sancho, pending full completion, as there are still some formalities to agree on and the medical check to be completed.

"At the end of the day, this is done explicitly at Jadon's request. We would have liked to keep him. But he behaved fantastic and was superb in the second half of the season.

"It makes a difference whether someone communicates this clearly or goes on strike. We are not happy about the money, but are sad that he is leaving."
