Three teenagers have lost their lives to knife crime in just five days in London – bringing the number of teens killed in the capital to 21 this year.

Police were called to two fatal stabbings within the space of hours yesterday, with a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old the latest victims.

It comes as two teenagers, including a 15-year-old boy, are set to appear in court today charged with murder after a 16-year-old was stabbed to death on Thursday.

Camron Smith died from his injuries after the attack in the early hours of Thursday last week in Croydon, South London.

A 15-year-old was stabbed to death in Woolwich, southeast London just after 5pm yesterday, and a 16 year old died just before midnight after being stabbed in Vauxhall, south London.

The total number of teens murdered in the capital this year now stands at 21, with three dying in the last five days – up from 17 in the whole of last year.

Two murder probes have been opened following yesterday's fatalities.

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the killing in Greenwich after going to hospital with stab wounds, which are not life-threatening.

No arrests have been made in connection with the 16-year-old's death in Lambeth last night.

Today Romain La Pierre, 18, and a 15-year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons, will appear at Bromley Magistrates Court charged with Camron's murder.

They also each face a charge of robbery.

Police were called to an address shortly after 12.45am in Shrublands, Croydon, and tragically Camron died at the scene around 45 minutes later.

La Pierre, from Cricklewood, was arrested in the Brierley Hill area in the West Midlands on Saturday, while the younger boy was arrested in East Sussex on Friday.

Following yesterday afternoon's stabbing in Greenwich, a Scotland Yard spokesman said: "Police were called at 17:23hrs on Monday, 5 July to reports of a stabbing.

"Officers attended and found a 15-year-old boy suffering from a stab injury. They immediately provided first aid prior to the arrival of the London Ambulance Service.

"Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene at 18:08hrs. His next of kin has been informed. Formal identification has not taken place."

A 15-year-old boy was later arrested on suspicion of murder after going to a south London hospital with a stab wound, the force said.

The second fatal stabbing yesterday happened just over six hours later when police were called at around 11.45pm.

A Scotland Yard spokesman: "Officers attended along with London Ambulance Service. The 16-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The boy’s next of kin have been informed and will be supported by specialist officers. Formal identification and a post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course.

"There has been no arrest at this early stage."
