Piers Morgan has taken to social media to praise the late Diana, Princess of Wales.
The former Good Morning Britain presenter, 56, took to social media on Thursday on what would have been Diana’s 60th birthday.
In 1981, Lady Diana Spencer married the heir to the throne of the United Kingdom in Charles, Prince of Wales and they went on to have two sons: Prince William and Prince Harry.
The pair’s marriage ultimately collapsed as they separated in 1992 and divorced in 1996.
The Princess of Wales died at the age of 36 following a car crash in Paris in 1997 along with her boyfriend Dodi Fayed and the driver Henri Paul.
Sharing a snap of himself and Diana at an event, Piers took to Twitter on Thursday to share a tribute to the iconic Diana over twenty years on from her death.

Piers penned: “Princess Diana would have been 60 today.
“She was a charismatic, smart, beautiful, contrary, sensitive, funny, unforgiving & mischievous lady with a massive generous heart.
“Biggest star in the world but I think all her demons were driven by one thing: she just wanted to be loved.”
The image was from when Morgan met Diana for the first time in 1992.
Some of Piers’ followers replied to his tweet to share their own messages about Diana.

One penned: “A wonderfully, caring and genuine person who sadly had troubles beyond belief. Yet made the world light up.”
Another added: “Happy Birthday Di.. if only you knew how much the world did love and respect you and still does..”
Meanwhile, a different person commented: “Nice photo of the young Diana and Piers – lovely words, insightful tribute, you knew her better than a lot of people – she was the ‘peoples princess’ unparalleled in this day and age.”

The praise for Princess Diana from Piers comes following the broadcaster being a vocal critic of her younger son Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex and his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex following their decision to step back from being senior members of the Royal Family.
In an interview with Tucker Carlson in April, Piers offered his two cents on the relationship between Princes Harry and William;
"You know, I knew Princess Diana well and I think she'd be horrified by the split between Harry and his brother," claimed Piers, who also hit out at Prince Harry's criticism of the Royal Family as an institution.

He continued: "I think by the schism now between Harry and the royal family generally, by the appalling smearing of the Queen, which is already causing damage in some of the commonwealth countries who were buying in to this outrageous lie that the Queen is somehow racist, presiding over a racist institution."
Prince Harry is due to attend an event at Kensington Palace with his older brother Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, on Thursday to unveil a statue of their mother to commemorate what would have been her birthday.
