Britney Spears’ fans are convinced she's no longer in control of her own Instagram page after spotting what looks like an old video uploaded to the site.

A video of the singer dancing in a pair of high heels was shared to her 31 million Insta fans this week.

It was accompanied by the caption: “This was from the other day!!! My first time dancing in heels for a while…my new lil project."

But the Toxic star's devoted followers have started sharing conspiracy theories suggesting the clip is proof the 39-year-old is no longer running her own social media account.

The reaction to the post gathered pace with many suggesting she was unlikely to have been in a dance studio "the other day" as she's been on holiday in Hawaii for the last week.

"'This was the other day' they are TRYINGGG lol," slammed one unconvinced fan.

Britney Spears fans think her Instagram is being controlled by family after an 'old' video was posted

"This is from a year ago," stressed another worried follower and another laughed: "It’s sooooo obvious too.

Another follower commented: "Oh the other day she was in Maui," reacted one fan, with a string of laughing emojis.

"They slipping up," added another.

"There’s no way that Britney herself actually runs this account. #FREEBRITNEY," wrote one supporter.

"The other day? I thought you were in Hawaii,” asked one puzzled fan," and another wrote: "I don’t know what to trust anymore."

Pop star Britney is battling to end a controversial conservatorship order which controls her life

One of the most recent sightings of the star came just a couple of days ago when her boyfriend Sam Ashgari shared a video of the couple working out in the gym.

“Team flex over here,” joked Sam as he and Britney both flaunted their biceps.

Britney was seen flexing her right bicep whilst on a treadmill, while fitness trainer Sam also flexed his muscles.

“Looks so good! Thanks for keeping her safe Sam,” commented one reassured fan.

“Take care of our lioness,” stressed another.

It comes as Britney is fighting to be freed from the conservatorship that has controlled her life for more than a decade.

Last week before she headed to Hawaii, she gave chilling testimony to a court in Los Angeles alleging she'd been abused imprisoned, forced to take medication against her will and said she'd been banned from having another baby.

The case hit the news again days later when it was revealed the star had lost her bid to have her dad Jamie removed as one of her conservators.

A growing group of supporters have long campaigned to remove the star from her conservatorship through the #FREEBRITNEY movement – and many have suspected she's used her social media as a cry for help over the years.

Back in February, Britney’s social media manager, Cassie Petrey, addressed earlier rumours that the star was not managing her own social media accounts.

Fans of the star believe her recent bikini snaps were from a year ago

“There are a lot of inaccurate theories out there about how Britney Spears' social media operates, and I want to give as much information as I can without violating her privacy or mine,” said Cassie on her own Instagram account.

“Britney creates her own posts and writes her own captions for Instagram.

“She finds the google images, pinterest images, quotes, memes and everything else herself. “Nobody is suggesting any of that stuff to her. She generally edits the videos herself.

“If a video she sends in is edited by her social media team, it's because she gave specific instructions and asked for it to be edited that way.

“Then she sees it and decides if she wants to post it or not.”

Last week, Britney’s' sister Jamie Lynn spoke publicly for the first time about the star's controversial conservatorship.

"I'm so proud of her for using her voice," said Jamie in an Instagram story.

"If ending the conservatorship… or whatever the hell else she wants to do to be happy – I support that."

She added: "I am so proud of her for requesting new counsel like I told her to do many years ago.

"I'm not my family, I'm my own person. I'm speaking for myself."
