Borussia Dortmund have announced that they’ve reached agreement with Manchester United for the transfer of Jadon Sancho.

The Bundesliga side will receive £73million up front, with a further £5million in potential add-ons.

BVB CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke confirmed on Thursday: "We reached a general agreement with Manchester United on the transfer of Jadon Sancho, pending full completion, as there are still some formalities to agree on and the medical check to be completed.

“At the end of the day, this is done explicitly at Jadon's request. We would have liked to keep him.

“But he behaved fantastic and was superb in the second half of the season. It makes a difference whether someone communicates this clearly or goes on strike.

“We are not happy about the money, but are sad that he is leaving.

“However, we will find solutions. I have full confidence in [new sporting director] Sebastian Kehl and [outgoing sporting director] Michael Zorc."

Will Jadon Sancho to Man Utd be the signing of the summer? Let us know in the comments

Sancho, currently on international duty at Euro 2020, gets his move

Speaking at his unveiling, new Borussia Dortmund head coach Marco Rose added: "Jadon's qualities were unpredictable. Every coach likes to have a player like Jadon Sancho on his team.

“We knew that it could mean that Jadon won't be there next season."

Sancho leaves having scored 16 times for BVB last term, and inspiring the side to victory in the German Cup Final win over RB Leipzig, in which he scored twice.

That will be his last outing for the side, a game in which Erling Haaland also found the net twice.

Haaland's father, ex-Manchester City, Leeds and Nottingham Forest midfielder Alf-Inge, responded to news of Sancho's impending transfer on Wednesday night, declaring on social media: “F***. But all the best Sancho. You will be missed."

Sancho made 137 appearances in all competitions for Borussia Dortmund, scoring 50 times and laying on 64 for teammates.
