A mouth-watering clash between top-class filly Love and Derby winner Adayar could be on the cards after Aidan O’Brien confirmed that his dual Oaks winner is a possible contender for the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes at Ascot next month.
Love, a 5/2 second favourite in Grosvenor Sport’s ante-post King George VI odds list, made a winning return to action at Royal Ascot where she made all the running under Ryan Moore to land the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes.

The daughter of Galileo will be looking to emulate great filly Enable who has won three of the last four editions of Ascot's Group 1 showpiece event.
However, Love might not be the only star filly gunning for glory in the 1m4f contest because soft ground would likely tempt connections of Hardwicke Stakes winner Wonderful Tonight to take her chance. She is a 10/1 chance at the moment but wouldn't be anything like that big if conditions came in her favour.
David Menuisier’s stable star has shown a real affection for soft ground at Ascot and she would undoubtedly be a major player if allowed to take her chance.
Running plans appear to be pretty fluid for Epsom hero Adayar, who heads King George VI betting at 6/4, although no Derby winner has gone on to land the King George VI Stakes as a three-year-old since Galileo in 2001.
Godolphin and trainer Charlie Appleby also have the option of running Irish Derby winner Hurricane Lane, whose only defeat came when he lost both front shoes in the Cazoo Derby at Epsom.
