Former Skid Row singer Johnny Solinger has died aged 55.

The band's official Instagram page paid tribute to the star just a month after he told fans that he had been diagnosed with liver failure.

The tribute read: "We are saddened to hear the news of our brother Johnny Solinger. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and fans.

"Godspeed Singo. Say hello to Scrappy for us."

It was signed by Rachel Bolan, ZP Theart, Snake Sabo, Rob Hammersmith and Scotti Hill.

In an additional tribute on their own Instagram page, Bolan wrote: "RIP Singo. Get yourself a piece of pie with Scrappy.”

Johnny first joined Skid Row in 1999 to replace previous lead vocalist Sebastian Bach, but left in 2015 and was subsequently replaced by Tony Harnell.

A friend of Johnny's, Brian Lawrence, is believed to have set up a GoFundMe page back in May to raise money for his hospital bills after the rocker was diagnosed with liver failure.

They wrote at the time: "Johnny has recently been diagnosed with liver failure and is currently being treated. As y'all know, most musicians don't carry health insurance, which unfortunately has a direct effect on the quality of treatment you receive from hospitals and health care providers. I've known Johnny for 20 years and he deserves our help."

However, the page has since updated today confirming that Johnny has died.

He wrote: "Update from Paula….Johnny has passed. I was holding his hand. He went in peace. Thank you all. I will take a break from everything but please know I am forever grateful for your love."
