Kanye West and his fashion label Yeezy are reportedly suing Walmart by alleging that they are selling 'rip-offs' of his Yeezy Foam Runner shoes.

The 44-year-old hip-hop star and fashion icon have reportedly claimed that the retail giant Walmart has left customers confused by what they were buying.

TMZ has reportedly seen court documents where Kanye and Yeezy claim that Walmart has cost them "hundreds of millions of dollars in sales" with their version of the footwear being sold at a fraction of the price.

The documents are said to note that the footwear, which was first introduced in 2019 and available to purchase the following year cost $75 (£53.88)with Yeezy.

The publication reports that the label now claims that Walmart created an "unauthorized exact copy" and sold them for a cheaper $25 (£17.96) for their version.

TMZ states that Kanye's team sent a legal warning to Walmart with a request to remove their version of the shoes from sale in their stores but this did not happen.

Now the publication reports that Kanye and the fashion label Yeezy are suing Walmart for "major damages".

According to The Blast, the documents from Kanye and Yeezy's side state: "Walmart's conduct is harming and will continue to harm, West and Yeezy, leaving them no choice but (to sue) to stop Walmart's unfair competition and profiting from the popularity of the success of West and Yeezy."

The Mirror has reached out to representatives of Kanye West, Yeezy and Walmart for comment on this story.

Earlier this year, Forbes estimated Kanye’s wealth to be worth $1.8billion after reports it was $6.6billion.

The reports surrounding the footwear come as Kanye has reportedly begun dating Russian model Irina Shayk amidst his divorce from wife Kim Kardashian.

The hip-hop superstar Kanye West entered Kim’s romantic life in 2012 and became engaged in 2013.

The couple later married in 2014 and went on to have four children together: North, seven, Saint, five, Chicago, three and Psalm, two.

Kim and Kanye were a celebrity super couple with a high degree of media attention, with many dubbing them Kimye.

On Kanye's birthday earlier this month, Kim paid tribute to Kanye by sharing a photo of the pair of them with their four children.

She captioned the post with a very warm message: "Happy Birthday Love U for Life [balloons emoji]".

In February 2021, Kim filed for divorce from Kanye. In April, the couple agreed in court they were divorcing due to "irreconcilable differences" and agreed to share custody of their children and that there would be no spousal support.

Meanwhile, Irina shares her four-year-old daughter Lea De Seine with her former partner and Hollywood star Bradley Cooper, 46, with whom she was in a relationship with from 2015 until their split in 2019.

She had previously dated Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo from 2009 until 2015.
