Anticipation for the new Championship season is building following the release of the 2021-22 fixture list.

One of the highlights of the opening weekend being the clash between last season's play-off semi-finalists Bournemouth and relegated West Brom.

Both are heavily fancied to do well next season.

Once the composition of the league was complete we ran a survey, asking fans a series of questions regarding how next season's Championship will pan out.

Recently-relegated Fulham are the team who garnered most votes when it comes to who fans think will get promoted. Despite the impending exit of boss Scott Parker, 24 per cent of respondent think the Cottagers will bounce straight back to the Premier League.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, fellow relegated clubs Sheffield United and West Brom weren't far behind.

The Blades got 20 per cent of votes, and Albion 18 per cent. Fans were perhaps influenced by events from last season when Norwich and Watford secured immediate promotions back to the top tier, whilst Bournemouth also secured a top-six finish.

At the other end of the table, fans also believe that two of the promoted sides are in for a rough campaign.

Both Blackpool and Peterborough saw 28 per cent of respondents suggest that their stay in the Championship will only last for one season.

Derby County, who have had yet more off-the-field drama to contend with this week, are also heavily tipped to struggle. A total of 22 per cent of voters believe Wayne Rooney's side will go down.

Another area where we asked fans to make their predictions was with regards to the top goalscorer.

Ivan Toney won that honour in 2020-21 with a record-breaking 31 goals.

Voters in our survey believe that Fulham's Aleksandar Mitrovic (21 per cent) and Sheffield United's Rhian Brewster (19 per cent) are most likely to finish top of the pile next term.

Others to finish high on the list were Blackburn's Adam Armstrong (13 per cent) and Peterborough's Jonson Clarke-Harris.

The season is set to begin on August 7, with TV games expected to be confirmed shortly.
