Ed Sheeran has opened up about becoming a dad and cutting down on his alcohol intake after “addiction issues”.
The pop star and wife Cherry Seaborn have 10-month-old daughter Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.
He said of his new baby: “I have been a dad to a wonderful baby girl for 10 months now and it is fantastic. The biggest discovery is that nobody knows what they are doing when they first have a kid. I read all the dad books and learning and as soon as it comes everything goes out the window and it is just all about feeling and experience.
"I got told for ages that as soon as they are born you feel a better love and with my head I was like "Does this mean I am going to love her more than my wife? Is it going to be like above that?" But as soon as she was born it opened a different kind of love. It opened up a different portal in you where you have got this eternal connection to something and eternal worry.”

The track will receive its first live outing when Sheeran performs from Ipswich Town's Portman Road on June 25 for TikTok's Uefa Euro 2020 show.
Sheeran added how he had cut down on alcohol since the birth of his daughter.
He said: “I kind of like battled with addiction for the large part of my 20s and always I never wanted to be the guy that had a problem but I kind of knew that I did. I never had an excuse to properly stop. I would stop for like a month and then slip back into things. I would stop for like a week and then slip back into things. It wasn't until knowing that I was going to be a dad and knowing I had to be a supportive husband that it was like "Right. I am done." It is when you grow up and have responsibilities…..now here I am being a responsible adult drinking water.”
In another interview yesterday, Sheeran told people to "mind their own business" over construction at his country estate. The 30-year-old singer has bought a number of properties close to Framlingham in Suffolk where he grew up.

Speaking on The Hits Radio Breakfast Show with Fleur East, he said: "I didn't name it that. I actually tried to change the name of it to The Shire because I love The Hobbit. But it got denied. Do you know the craziest one (planning dispute) for me is the lake that I had dug. Well it's essentially a pond that… I can show you pictures of it. It is grey filled with tadpoles and swamp stuff."
Sheeran said the lake was "not a swimming pool" and suggested it had been made to look bluer online.
Ed has also spoken about his own country estate.

He added: "There's no filter system. It's naturally cleaned itself with the plants that are in it. There's a big thing about like wildlife and newts and blah, blah, blah.
"Before it was there, it was a ploughed field. So there is way more wildlife there now it's surrounded by this.
"Fourteen thousand trees that were planted, which is great for the environment. There's load of animals. We let the meadow grow up… I just think people just need to mind their own business."
