Micah Richards has poked fun at Gary Lineker after Alexander Isak called him an 'old player in the studio'.

The BBC host hailed the rising star for his performances in Sweden's opening Euro 2020 matches against Spain and Slovakia.

The Swedes held the Spaniards to a stalemate draw before taking four points out of a possible six with a win over the Slovaks.

Isak hasn't got on the scoresheet yet but he has led the line impeccably and looks to be one to look out for in the years to come.

Isak was instrumental in the victory over Slovakia as he picked up a man of the match award and it was his through ball for Robin Quaison that won the winning penalty, which was converted by Emil Forsberg.

He also nearly scored the goal of the tournament taking on five players before having his shot saved by Martin Dubravka.

The Real Sociedad talisman's starring role caught the attention from Lineker who reckons he is an 'exceptional talent'.

During the game, the pundit tweeted: “Don’t think there’s much doubt that Alexander Isak will attract a lot of attention from clubs across Europe. Exceptional talent.”

Isak was then asked about Lineker's comments at his post-match press conference but the striker wasn't overly familiar with the former England and Tottenham forward.

A reporter said: “Gary Lineker wrote about you, he said you were an excellent talent. Do you know who Gary Lineker is?”

Isak hesitantly answered: “I am aware of him. Is he an old player working in the studio?”

The reporter added: “He was the top goalscorer at the World Cup in 1986.”

Isak responded: “Well I wasn’t born then, but I have a little bit of knowledge about him.”

The clip was played in front of Lineker in the studio to his dismay. as he was hosting Spain vs Poland on Saturday night.

Lineker responded: “I said really nice things about him! An ‘old player in the studio’?”

Richards couldn't help but mock Linekar for the incident.

The former Manchester City star burst into laughter and added: “He wasn’t born then, he said.”

“How does it feel when no-one knows you? Now you know how I feel!”
