Nicolas Cage's mother, Joy Vogelsang, has sadly died at the age of 85.
The 57-year-old actor's mother is believed to have been in hospital for the two weeks before she sadly passed away at the end of May.
Taking to social media, Nicolas Cage's brother Christopher shared the heartbreaking news with his followers. It was also revealed that her funeral is yet to take place.
"My mama died at 10:33pm 5/26,' Christopher wrote on Facebook.
"I was with her all day but left for a couple hours and missed her passing by a couple hours so wasn't able to hold her hand to give her my love and affection before her journey to peace land.

He added: "She had a very hard life with mental health issues. In all of that painful emotional chaos she still managed to teach me something super important… I learned from my mama what 'affection' really means."

The former dancer and choreographer had reportedly suffered from a host of mental health issues throughout her life, including schizophrenia and severe depression.
The mum of three was married to Nicolas' dad, August Coppola, until 1976 when the couple divorced. Nicolas was just 12 years old at the time.
Speaking about his mother in an interview in 1996, Nicolas recalled his mum being incredibly caring despite battling her demons.
"She was plagued with mental illness for most of my childhood," he told Playboy in 1996.

"She was institutionalized for years and went through shock treatments. She would go into these states that lasted for years. She went through these episodes of poetry – I don’t know what else to call it.
"She would say the most amazing things, beautiful but scary. I’m sure they had an impact on me.
He added: "If I look at home movies of when I was two years old, I see that she was a very caring mother – the way she touched me.
In the interview, he went on: "I always felt protected. She never wanted to hurt anybody. The hardest part was seeing someone I love suffer."

The death of Nicolas' mum comes just four months after the actor revealed that he had gotten married for a fifth time.
In February, the actor and his partner Riko Shibata – who is 30 years his junior – tied the knot at an intimate ceremony in Las Vegas.
In images released of the ceremony, the happy couple looked smitten as they exchanged their vows surrounded by friends and family.
Riko, who is four years younger than his first son Weston Cage, is said to have taken the star's surname.

The actor's rep also revealed that after the wedding ceremony, Nicolas and his new bride were joined by his ex wife and son at the reception.
"After the wedding, the happy couple was joined for a small celebration attended by Nicolas' ex-wife, Alice (who he remains very good friends with) and their son Kal," his rep revealed at the time.
Their wedding came less than two years since Cage asked for an annulment four days after getting married to his fourth wife Erika Koike on March 23, 2019.
