Harry Potter fans went wild for the mini Malfoy reunion

It was a case of life imitating art when Harry Potter characters Draco and Scorpius Malfoy sat next to each other at a film screening in London last week.

Tom Felton, who played Bertie Gilbert's fatherin the smash-hit franchise, decided to attend a screening of musical drama In The Heights at the Backyard cinema and was stunned when in he found out who was in the seat next to him.

Posting a pic of the pair on Instagram, in which Bertie points to the cast of the film on his phone, Tom wrote: "When Draco sat next to Scorpius. Completely by chance! Was such a lovely coincidence before sitting down to watch."

The Malfoy reunion unsurprisingly sent Harry Potter fans into meltdown with one replying to the post: "Omg I love this so much." Another seemed to be overcome by emotion revealing: "I'm crying. This is everything."

While only 13 at the time he filmed the last instalment of JK Rowling's staggeringly successful franchise, Bertie is now 24 and looks a lot more grown up than he did when he was waiting on Platform 9 3/4.

As well as an actor, the star is now a film director and popular YouTuber, amassing over 400,000 subscribers.

Tom, 33, meanwhile, has admitted he'd love to reprise his role as a Malfoy. Asked if he'd consider returning to the series in the future, the actor told People : "If you're asking me will I dye my hair blonde again to be Draco, abso-bloody-lutely.

"Either [him or Lucius Malfoy]. I'll play Draco's kid [Scorpius] if you really want! Any chance to be a Malfoy again would be greatly accepted."

Tom's on-screen mum in the franchise was played by the late Helen McCrory, who helped shape the actor as a person according to a heartfelt tribute he made to her.

Helen died in April at the age of 52 following a secret battle with cancer.

And Tom told fans and Helen's family just how important she was to his life.

He wrote in an Instagram post, "So sad to say farewell so suddenly – I never took the chance to tell her, but she helped shape me as a person so much – on & off screen.

"She was always relentlessly herself- razor sharp wit – silver tongued – kind & warm hearted – she suffered no fools yet had time for everyone.

"Thank you for lighting the way forward & holding my hand when I needed it xx."

As well as his on-screen family, Tom recently revealed that his real-life grandfather made a guest appearance appearance in the first Harry Potter film.

And the Draco Malfoy actor couldn't resist proudly pointing him out as he took a trip down memory lane and watched the 2001 flick with fans during a digital event.

The actor pointed to a Hogwarts professor sat beside pupil Lee Jordan in the stands during the Gryffindor V Slytherin match that ends in a Harry swallowing the Golden Snitch.

"That's my grandpa again!" Tom gushed, "The guy with the beard. White beard! Huge beard right next to Lee Jordan. And there's me again."
