A Ryanair passenger was hauled off their flight from Portugal following an argument with cabin crew about masks, it has been reported.

In footage following the incident a man can be seen taking his luggage down from the passenger-jet's above-seat lockers under the watchful eye of two police officers.

He is then led off the Ryanair plane, shortly after it touched down in Stansted, Essex, around 9pm on Sunday.

Passengers could be heard saying "see you later, pr***" and "bye c***" as he was taken away.

Someone else on the flight said that the man had been regularly shouting at staff during the three-hour flight from Portugal.

"He was complaining about wearing a mask and shouting very angrily saying he'd get them fired," the witness told MailOnline.

"He was saying ''I'm going to go mental on this plane''. And when the drinks trolley came around of course they didn't want to serve him so that made him even more angry.

"I assume he had been drinking because I don't know why anyone else had been behaving like that."

The passenger said that the man, who had a south-east English accent, seemed like he'd be trouble at the gate.

He had thrust a sex toy in his girlfriend's ear at Faro Airport, the witness claimed.

As they were boarding the man reportedly began to argue with staff, claiming that he did not need to wear a face mask.

After the flight took off he continued shouting at the cabin crew, the witness said, tucking his mask under his chin and shouting at staff.

After enduring abuse the cabin crew decided to call police ahead of the plane landing, the fellow passenger said.

A police car was on the runway when the plane touched down and the passenger was led away.

As he was frogmarched off the jet other people on the plane broke into a round of applause.

A Ryanair spokesperson said: The crew of this flight from Faro to London Stansted (June 13) requested police assistance upon arrival after a passenger became disruptive in-flight.

"The aircraft landed normally and police removed the individual at London Stansted airport. This is now a matter for local police.”

Essex Police said no offences were recorded.
