Just a month after his EastEnders co-star Jessie Wallace left a sexually explicit message on his Instagram post, Max Bowden has split from his long-time girlfriend Danielle McCarney.
The actor, who plays Ben Mitchell in the BBC soap, and the former show-runner, have called time on their relationship after two years together.
The former couple, who met on the set of EastEnders, are believed to have split amicably with no-one else involved.
Their split comes just weeks after the internet went wild for a strange comment from the newly single star's Instagram post from colleague Jessie.
On a picture of the young actor at the NTAs two years ago, the Kat Slater actress wrote: "'Remember… if you need a m***e to cry on…. I’m yer gal" with an accompanying winking emoji.
Earlier this year, the actor described Danielle as "most beautiful woman on the planet"
Fans were quick to pick up on the flirty comment with one replying, "we need more Kat, Ben & Phil scenes" while another simple said, "Omg".
However, it appears the quip was just an inside joke and Max was still with Danielle at the time of posting.
A source close to the actor has told the MailOnline that the former couple hope to remain friends after their break-up.

Speaking to the paper, they said: "Max and Danielle's split had been on the cards for a while.
"The relationship was a whirlwind at the start but ran into trouble a few months ago. They tried to make it work but they decided to remain friends. Nobody else was involved."
Earlier this year, the 26-year-old described his now ex-girlfriend as "the most beautiful woman on the planet" in a gushing post to wish her a happy birthday.
The couple had been together for two years before their split.
The young star, who is the sixth actor to portray Ben Mitchell on screen, has suffered a number of personal tragedies off-camera over the last year.
In September 2020, his grandfather sadly died, and more recently the Albert Square favourite has seen two of his close friends lose their lives.
In February this year, Max suffered the loss of showbiz agent and manager Terry Mills after he contracted Covid during a business trip to Mexico.
Earlier this month, the actor revealed his best friend had died following a battle with depression.

Speaking as he shared a GoFundMe page to raise money for the funeral of pal Luke Goodings, the EastEnders star urged his fans to speak up about their mental health.
He wrote: "Hi all, feel sick I'm having to do this again but want to give our Luke the send-off he deserves.
"We’re trying to raise funds for Luke’s funeral and I’d really appreciate any donation big or small to help us with the costs.
Sending everybody love and remember you're not alone. Talk if you need to. Luke, we love you," he added.
On the actual fundraising page, Max wrote: "On Sunday 6th June we very sadly lost our Luke Goodings to depression, something none of us foresaw coming.
"A fiercely loyal friend, brother and boyfriend, Luke always put everyone else first, even when it got him into trouble."
