John Bishop shared a number of videos and pictures on social media in tribute to his late pet Bilko as he announced the passing of his canine companion

TV funny man John Bishop has revealed the heartbreaking news that his beloved dog Bilko has sadly passed away.

Taking to his Instagram account, the comedian shared a series of pictures and videos of the late pup as mourned the death of his much-loved pet.

In a picture of himself cuddling Bilko, an English bull terrier, the 54-year-old entertainer captioned the post: "God I loved him …thank you all from all the family for your kind messages. We will all miss him x"

A number of celeb pals were amongst the hundreds to offer their condolences under the post.

Former TOWIE star Mark Wright wrote "Sending you love John x" while This Morning presenter Dermot O'Leary said "Dottie buddy. The worst x".

One follower reminisced, saying: "I remember being at one of your shows and you talking about him saying he was the only one who was pleased to see you when you came home, dogs give us the biggest joy and the biggest heartbreak when they leave, I feel for you."

On his Instagram stories, John also uploading pictures and videos which included a recent snap of man and dog together in the garden, just hours before Bilko's death.

"His last afternoon was spent sitting on the couch watching the football then I carried him to the garden and we just sat together.

"This is our last picture. He was some friend," he captioned the sweet black and white picture.

The comedian mourned his late pet on his Instagram stories with sweet words and memories.

The Liverpudlian used his Instagram stories to post old videos of the late dog and his family to pay tribute to his beloved pet.

One sweet memory shared was footage of the TV personality clapping to gain his attention and Bilko running lovingly into his owner's arms.

The comedian also poignantly posted a video of his canine companion running through a field, captioned: "Where I imagine Bilko to be right now".

Bilko made regular appearance's on John's Instagram.

Bilko was a frequent guest on animal lover John's social media posts.

Back in December 2020, the star, who has been a vegetarian since 1985, shared a sweet video of the late dog napping on the couch.

"This is my best mate Bilko . He is 15 years old and has had a great life since we got him from a dogs home but it breaks my heart to see his legs failing on his walks," he captioned the post.

In 2018, John used his Twitter account to urge his followers to adopt, not shop if they're thinking of welcoming a pup into their home too.

"Further to the dog pics this morning – both are rescue dogs and have been brilliant in our family so if your (sic) thinking of getting a dog consider a rescue one." he tweeted alongside a web link to a dog rescue website.
