Jurgen Klopp holds the advantage in Liverpool's transfer chase for Borussia Monchengladbach star Florian Neuhaus, according to a Bundesliga expert.
The Reds manager is searching for Georginio Wijnaldum's replacement after the Dutchman departed Anfield for Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer last week.
Now, Klopp appears to be turning to his homeland to find the former no.5's heir and Mirror Sport understands Liverpool are monitoring Neuhaus as he prepares to line up for Germany at Euro 2020.
The 24-year-old, who is valued at £31.5m by Transfermarkt, isn't short of suitors though, with German giants Bayern Munich reportedly also after the all-action central midfielder.

However, Klopp seems to have an advantage over his old Bundesliga foes, at least according to Florian Plettenberg of Sport1.
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo on their Blood Red podcast, the Bundesliga expert described Neuhaus as "special" and explained why the Reds have the upper hand in the race.
"Neuhaus is very good in front of goal and he is a dangerous player," said Plettenberg.
"He is very flexible and can also play on the wings – technically and physically very good, and the perfect player for Jurgen Klopp.
"But he would also be very interesting for Julian Nagelsmann at Bayern Munich next year."
Liverpool will be keeping an eye on Neuhaus at Euro 2020
He continued: "Neuhaus is able to score goals and also to win tackles – it is a special mixture and you cannot find it so often.
"He has the quality for the next big step and he will one day make a step one of the top five teams in the world."
Neuhaus and his father are said to be big Bayern fans but with the Bavarians' difficult financial situation, could be priced out of a move this summer.
Plettenberg thinks that signing for Klopp would "for sure" be a big appeal to the midfielder, who racked up eight goals and eight assists for Gladbach this past season.

Although the switch makes sense from a footballing standpoint, the German gaffer's connections off the pitch additionally put Liverpool in an advantageous position.
"Klopp has shown that he can develop players and I have never heard a player who could not imagine working with him!
"Klopp knows the [agent] of Neuhaus and the [agent] of Neuhaus knows Klopp very well, so it could be the perfect match – he would fit very well," revealed the reporter.
"If you speak with him, you can see that he is very open-minded. He knows what he has to do.
"Neuhaus is one of the best five midfielders in the Bundesliga," Plettenberg stated.
"He has the quality and the talent to get his breakthrough in a top club and he is playing constantly."
The potential future Red will be hoping to line up for Germany tomorrow evening as they face France in Munich at 8pm.
