With holidays back on the cards, many have been jetting away to sunnier climes including Peter Andre who whisked his family away for a break in Portugal.

Pete was one of those who enjoyed a trip to Portugal as restrictions started to lift and he flew out there with wife Emily and the kids before the country was added to the Amber list.

The Mysterious Girl singer is now back home and he's documented the whole trip in a YouTube video as he showed off some of the highlights of their getaway including a sunset cruise, a trip to the beach and being treated to a personal chef.

Peter was keen to go to Portugal after having never visited the country before and the family were quick to soak up the best of what it could offer, enjoying the sun for a family BBQ on the first night.

The family had locally sourced hand-pressed burgers, sausages, steak and jerk chicken, all cooked by Peter, while the kids dived in and out of the pool in the family villa.

"Weather looks lovely. It's nice to be here. I've never been to Portugal before," he tells the camera.

As a special midweek treat, chef George came to cook for all of them, with a lavish menu including salad, potatoes and fresh locally sourced seafood.

When asked if she was enjoying it, his wife Emily tucked into the food and nodded.

The next day, the whole family – including kids Junior, Princess, Amelia and Theo – hit the beach, but Peter was struggling a bit with sunburn.

Despite the minor issues, the family enjoyed a great day with Theo making sandcastles as a birthday present for his mum.

However, it wasn't to be as the sea came and washed them away mid-build.

When it came to the evening, they all headed to the marina for a sunset cruise.

Speaking as he was getting ready to board the boat, Peter said: "I feel very lucky to come out to Portugal because obviously it was on the green list, so people were taking the opportunity to go.

"And it's now been put on the amber list so it's really scuppered people's plans to come out."

"I feel terrible for anyone that's booked holidays but obviously incredibly happy that we got the chance to come and now Emily and everyone's coming on board [the boat] and I'm very excited.

"And now I'm going to see what Portugal's all about. It's so beautiful so far."

During their cruise, the family spotted dolphins swimming elegantly around their boat.

It was a perfect introduction for the next day, where Peter took Princess to go swimming with the creatures, something she had been asking for for years.

"The excitement on the kids' faces, unbelievable. Princess can't believe it. Amelia's so excited, she's never seen dolphins apart from the night before. It's going to have her dream come true. She's been asking for the last three or four years," he said.

After the experience, Princess was speechless.

She told her dad: "That was one of the best experiences of my life. I'm so happy. It was amazing."
