Belgium have plenty going for them going into Euro 2020 as they prepare to face off with Russia in Group B’s second game of the delayed tournament at 8pm on Saturday June 12.
This summer’s competition was postponed until this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the tournament initially set to take place on June 12th 2020.
The Red Devils, who made it to the quarter-finals of the tournament in 2016, will be looking to better this performance and have a good chance of winning the prestigious trophy this time round.
This meeting will be the seventh between the two nations, with the Red Devils winning five of them. There have also been two draws.
Roberto Martinez will be in charge of his second major tournament with Belgium, while Eden Hazard will captain the nation
Coming into the competition, Belgium have been in fine form, winning eight of their last 10 international fixtures. This includes an 8-0 thumping of Belarus on March 30th.
Roberto Martinez will be at the helm for the Red Devils, and has named a 26-man squad with only two individuals plying their trade in the Belgian division.
Martinez, who will be in charge of the team for his second major tournament, has included all-time leading appearance holder Jan Vertonghen in the list, as well as the country’s top scorer Romelu Lukaku.
Among the 26 players selected by the Spaniard also include familiar names such as Manchester City ’s Kevin De Bruyne, Real Madrid pair Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard, and Borussia Dortmund’s Axel Witsel.

Russia on the other hand have gone one stage further than their Group B opponents, reaching the semi-finals of the competition in 2008.
They were knocked out in the final four by eventual winners Spain, losing the match 3-0.
Russia, who are managed by Stanislav Cherchesov, has named uncapped midfielder Denis Makarov in his 26-man squad. The 23-year-old helped his side Rubin Kazan to a fourth-place finish in the Russian Premier League.
His list is also heavily dominated by domestic based players, with only four members of the squad not playing in the country’s top flight.
