Arriving a year later than anticipated, Euro 2020 is finally upon us, albeit in 2021, and the tournament's opening game did not disappoint.
It is often the case that the first game in any major tournament is a cagey affair with both sides more focused on not losing
But Roberto Mancini's Italy side were in fine form against a young Turkish side who struggled to lay a glove on the Azzurri.
Ironically, it was a player who plies his trade in Serie A who gifted the Italians their opening goal, Turkey and Juventus defender Merih Demiral putting the ball beyond his own goalkeeper in the opening exchanges of the second half.

The gaffe sparked an attacking onslaught from the Italians who sensed their opponents were on the ropes, Lazio's Ciro Immobile and Napoli's Lorenzo Insigne adding another two to cap off an impressive night for Mancini and his men.
Though many thought Turkey would prove to be a thorn in Italy's side, one fan called all of the game's key moments and goal-scorers, ten hours BEFORE kick-off.
The official UEFA Euro 2020 account called on fans to give their predictions ahead of the contest, with the mystic fan in question responding: "Turkey 0-3 Italy, Immobile, Insigne, Demiral OG", and sparking a wild response from stunned fellow football fanatics.
One Twitter user sarcastically wrote: "Not that impressive, you didn’t say which minute the goals would come."
While another jokingly demanded: "Lottery numbers, NOW!"

Due to the stunning nature of his prediction, the fan was inundated with requests for him to see into the future for a number of other topics, including who will win next season's Premier League.
Turkey's Euro 2020 campaign has begun in disastrous fashion, conceding more goals to Italy on the opening night than they did over the course of the entire qualification campaign.
However, manager Şenol Güneş will be hoping his side bounce back when they take on Wales in Baku on Wednesday night.
Italy will look to further tighten their grip on proceedings in Group A when they welcome Switzerland to the Stadio Olimpico, also on Wednesday night.
Wales and Switzerland kick off Saturday's action at 2pm, with Denmark vs Finland at 5pm, rounding off with Belgium's clash against Russia at 8pm.
