The Crown producers are reportedly struggling to find a red-headed actor to portray the role of Prince Harry in the upcoming series.

The Netflix megahit is currently gearing up for the fifth series that will portray the Royal Family between the years of 1990 and 1997.

However, it has been claimed that casting directors have hit a hurdle as they attempt to cast a young actor that will assume the role of Harry.

According to The Sun, producers are set on casting the right actor for the coveted role and also have high standards when looking for the right star.

“Bosses have incredibly high standards when it comes to the actors they hire," an insider told the publication.

“So any wannabe cast member already has to tick a long line of boxes. But with the role of young Harry they wanted another crucial box ticking."

The source added: “That’s proved incredibly difficult but they’re determined to cast the right actor and are considering taking any steps necessary to make him look the part.”

A representative for Netflix has been approached by The Mirror for comment on the search.

The Duke of Sussex's character will go from the age of six to 13 in the next series – and the season will come to an end at the year Prince Harry's mother, Princess Diana, tragically died.

Filming is expected to begin this summer and will be in production until early next year ahead of the next season's release date.

While the show has landed Elizabeth Debicki to play Princess Diana and Imelda Staunton to star as Queen Elizabeth, it was also previously claimed that producers were still trying to fill the spot for Prince Andrew amid recent controversies.

Prince Andrew has been in a storm of headlines over his close relationship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. He also stepped back from his Royal duties amid the scandal.

TV bosses were said to have been hunting for an actor between the age of 30 and 40 to play the role of Prince Andrew and advertised the spot online.

However, a Netflix source has since denied the rumours and ensured that there has been no trouble trying to cast actors for the next season.

“There is absolutely no struggle to cast any role for season 5 of The Crown and it is normal practice for productions to advertise in Spotlight,” a representative previously told Deadline.
