Former Love Island star Wes Nelson would love nothing better than to follow in Robbie Williams’ illustrious footsteps.

Wes was catapulted to celebrity fame after starring in the 2018 version of the hit ITV show.

But since leaving the villa the ambitious 21-year-old has made the “difficult” transition from TV to pop star.

His debut single See Nobody was a huge success and his follow-up Nice To Meet Ya is gathering great traction since its release last month.

And although he knows he’s got a long way to go to reach the lofty heights achieved by former Take That legend Robbie, Wes is dreaming big as he looks to make waves on the music scene.

He and Robbie both herald from Staffordshire – and Williams has also been an inspiration.

“Robbie is an absolute legend and is obviously a Stoke on Trent boy, he’s a local boy,” said Wes.

“It’s certainly big shoes to fill, but I’m on my own journey.

“I think we’re on different paths, but I’m sure I’ll get to his stage, hopefully, eventually.

He understandably welcomes the support, but it is the backing from industry experts which convinced him he could be successful in music.

“It was good to get the industry experts – and those people so adept in their fields – to give their opinion on the music before it came out,” admitted Wes.

“But you really don’t know how it’s going to turn out, it’s one of them.

“It’s art at the end of the day and art’s interpreted in different ways by different people, so you just don’t know [how it will be received].
