Billie Eilish has been accused by some fans of 'queerbaiting' after she unveiled a new music video as well as declaring on social media that she 'loves girls'.

The 19-year-old music sensation, who has not publicly spoken about her sexuality, recently unveiled a collection of snaps taken from behind the scenes of her new music video Lost Cause.

In the images, the songstress features in several playful scenes alongside a large group of female pals. Alongside her recent post, Billie also simply added the caption: "I love girls."

It came just over a week after Billie released the music video for her new tune Lost Cause. The clip, that Billie also directed, features the Bad Guy artist enjoying an evening of fun and games with a group of friends.

Many fans expressed joy at Billie's latest post as well as praising her music video and her 'confidence'. However, several others also appeared to take issue with the footage as well as her Instagram caption – especially because it was made during Pride Month.

One Instagram follower responded: "is this not queer baiting???"

Another wrote on Twitter : "posting sexual content w other women w the caption “i love girls” & yet calling yourself straight is queerbaiting. someone let billie know just saying you love girls is not coming out. i’m hoping she elaborates on her posts bc i know she sees those comments."

Other fans defended the star and said that she was simply having a fun time with pals in the clip

Another added: "How can we accuse somebody of queer-baiting when we don’t know their sexuality?"

The debate comes days after Billie shared a clip of the Lost Cause video on Instagram, and explained that it was lots of fun to film despite suffering a wardrobe malfunction.
