Lily Allen is making her debut in a West End play alongside EastEnders' Max Branning.

The singer, 36, will put her acting skills to good use in supernatural play 2:22 – A Ghost Story, taking place at the Noel Coward Theatre in London.

She will appear on the stage alongside Jake Wood, Hadley Fraser and Julia Chan.

Lily will take on the role of Jenny, a woman who believes her home is haunted, although her husband disagrees.

In the show, Lily and Hadley argue with their friends after inviting them over for dinner.

And the group end up staying up until 2.22am to find out if there are any ghosts in the house.

Speaking about landing the job, Lily said: "I am so excited about getting to work on this play. The live performance aspect of my career has always been the most thrilling part for me, connecting with a group of individuals and the spontaneity of whatever happens on the night.

"I feel that stepping into this play is an exciting natural extension of that and affords me the best of all worlds.

Appearing happy and relaxed the star could be seen swishing around an enviably glossy black mane complete with super-short fringe, which was reminiscent of her previous signature style.

Lily seems to be dipping her toe into something different, with a new job and hair, she is smashing her way through life.
