Chelsea have reportedly made Erling Haaland their number one priority this summer with the Dortmund striker keen on a move to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are hoping to kick on from their Champions League triumph and challenge for the Premier League title next season.

They reckon that a goalscoring no.9 is the missing piece of their puzzle and there aren't many better than Haaland in the world right now.

The Norwegian netted 41 goals in 41 games last term and has notched 85 goals at club level since the start of the 2019/20 season.

If Chelsea hope to secure his services this summer it could cost them as much as £150million, however, with Dortmund willing to keep hold of him for another year, even if it means losing him for a reduced price 12 months from now.

Clubs can trigger a release clause in his contract believed to be in the region of £65m to £86m next summer.

Manchester City, Manchester United and Real Madrid are among the teams interested in the 20-year-old.

But the good news for Chelsea is that Haaland is keen on joining Thomas Tuchel's side and is willing to wait a year to make it happen, according to reports in Norway.

Pep Guardiola is well aware of Haaland's quality as he piled praise on the rising star ahead of City's Champions League quarter-final against Dortmund.

He said: "The numbers speak for themselves. Of course, he's one of the best strikers in the world right now at his age.

"I've seen few of his games, honestly, because I didn't have much time. But I saw the highlights and the numbers in the Champions League and the league are impressive.

"I know the quality of this player and I think everyone knows. But in two weeks I could answer better, because I didn’t see much."

It's a sentiment that was echoed by Haaland's Bundesliga golden boot rival Robert Lewandowski who believes he can reach the very top in the future.

The Bayern Munich forward told CBS Sports "He's a great player. He has great potential, but he's still very young.

"In the future, he has the chance to become the best forward in the world, for sure."
