Jake Quickenden has joked that being a dad is as hard as doing X Factor as he said he's "s**t at singing".

The reality TV star, 32, welcomed his first son, a baby boy named Leo, with his girlfriend Sophie Church, back in February.

And Jake, who appeared on both the ninth and eleventh seasons of X Factor, has opened up about how hard he's found being a dad.

He has launched a new podcast with Love Island stars Jamie Jewitt and Marcel Somerville called It's Not All Dad, in which they talk about being first time dads.

Marcel said in the first episode: "It's not easy at all, I think it's one of the hardest jobs I've ever had to do but it's rewarding as well."

"Mate, it's on par with X Factor for me," Jake told him.

Jamie laughed, asking him: "What in how hard it was or how rewarding it was?"

Jake went on: "How hard it was because I'm s**t at singing."

Jamie thought he had come second, but Jake actually didn't make it past the judges' houses stage in the ninth series, and was voted out in the third week of the live shows in series eleven.

Jake laughed: "I definitely didn't come second in X Factor but we'll just keep that in there and pretend.

"I came like thirteenth or something."

"That why it wasn't so rewarding!" Jamie said.

Jake went on: "It definitely wasn't rewarding, but yeah the hardest but most rewarding.

"Because a lot of people show how beautiful it is, which it is, but I think it's so important to let new parents know there's gonna be loads of little road blocks, there's gonna be loads of little bumps in the road, and you're gonna struggle here and you're gonna find this hard.

"What Jamie maybe finds easy, I might find really hard, and what you struggled with, I might go, 'Oh no I actually enjoyed that.'"

Jake also admitted that he thought being a dad would be easier than he's found it.

He went on: "I thought it would be so much easier than it has been, and I'm not ashamed to admit that.

"I thought it would be a few nappies, put him to bed, he sleeps pretty much straight away."

Jake and Sophie announced they'd welcomed baby Leo on Instagram earlier this year.
