David Schwimmer tied the knot with Zoe Buckman 11 years ago after his dream romance with Jennifer Aniston failed to take off.

The Friends star recently admitted to having a crush on his co-star Jennifer when they were filming the hit sitcom, where they played on-and-off couple Ross Gellar and Rachel Green.

But David never made a move on Jennifer and they never took their romance off-screen, so in 2007 – three years after Friends ended – he began dating waitress and artist Zoe Buckman.

The couple married three years later and if they hadn’t split in 2017, they would be celebrating their 11th wedding anniversary this month.

David crushes on Jen

David, 54, and Jennifer, 52, starred together as the iconic couple Ross and Rachel in Friends from 1994 until 2004.

And during the recent Friends reunion special on HBO Max, David admitted that both he and Jennifer were “crushing hard on each other”, although neither of them made their feelings known.

He said: "I mean, the first season, I had a major crush on Jen. At some point, we were crushing hard on each other. But it was like two ships passing, because one of us was always in a relationship and we never crossed that boundary. We respected that."

While Jennifer added: "Honestly, I remember saying one time to David, 'It's going to be such a bummer if the first time you and I actually kiss is going to be on national television’. Sure enough, first time we kissed was in that coffee shop.

“So we just channelled all of our adoration and love for each other into Ross and Rachel."

Marrying Zoe

After Friends ended, David let his feelings for Jennifer fizzle out and they both moved on to dating other people.

Jennifer was married to Brad Pitt between 2000 and 2005, and David fell in love with British artist and waitress Zoe Buckman in 2007.

The happy couple dated for three years before they got married in 2010, when David was 44 and Zoe was just 25.

They share daughter Cleo

David and Zoe were notoriously private and waited four whole months before telling the world they had tied the knot, and details about their wedding have been kept under wraps for over a decade.

However, Peter Andre recently spilled the beans on their big day when he revealed David personally asked for him to sing at the ceremony!

He said: “I know everyone is really excited about the ‘Friends’ reunion, but I've actually never watched a single episode! Bizarrely, I did sing at David Schwimmer's wedding in 2010, though.

“I got a call saying he wanted to meet me and I thought it was a wind-up. I went to a London hotel to meet him and we started talking and he said to me ‘I'd love you to sing at our wedding’.

“And so I did. It was definitely strange seeing Thandiwe Newton and David Walliams in the same room, singing along to a song I never even knew they knew. It was wonderful.”

In 2011, David and Zoe welcomed their daughter, Cleo.

Amicable split

The couple remained married for seven years before announcing in 2017 they were set to go their separate ways.

Despite their break-up, David and Zoe are dedicated to raising their daughter together, and previously said Cleo’s “happiness and wellbeing” was their “priority”.

In their joint statement released at the time of their split, they said: "It is with great love, respect and friendship that we have decided to take some time apart while we determine the future of our relationship.

"Our priority is, of course, our daughter's happiness and well-being during this challenging time, and so we ask for your support and respect for our privacy as we continue to raise her together and navigate this new chapter for our family."

And last year, David hailed his ex-wife as a “great friend”.

He said: "The first year and a half, it was really my daughter's adjustment that I was most concerned about. I knew I'd be fine, I'd be okay, and I knew she would be okay, the mom.

"We're still great friends and – touch wood – we've worked out a way to be really respectful and loving and caring and flexible in terms of our co-parenting."
