Liverpool ace Thiago Alcantara selected legendary duo Steven Gerrard and Xabi Alonso as his ideal partners in the middle of the park, and both have now responded.

Thiago took part in a Q&A session with Liverpool fans this week as he continues to regain match fitness.

Having opted to select friends in his 5-a-side team, he took a different approach and selected two Liverpool heroes – Gerrard and Alonso.

Thiago said: “I have already played with Xabi Alonso, so I can tick that and say I would play with him. And, why not with Steven Gerrard? He’s a legendary midfielder, for sure.”

“If I played alongside him it would be a way for me to learn more about football, for sure.”

Gerrard was the first to respond on Instagram, as he commented on the video posted by the official Liverpool account.

“That would have been a pleasure trust me,” he commented.

Alonso followed Gerrard by responding, commenting: “I can see that midfield,” with a series of muscle emojis.

Thiago continued by heaping praise on Gerrard, calling the former Champions League-winner a legendary figure.

“I have massive respect for the story of Steven Gerrard at this club. He changed the club as well,” he added.

“I look forward to meeting him. Steven Gerrard is a legend. If I had played alongside him, it would have been a way to learn more football.”
