Matteo Guendouzi has reportedly snubbed the opportunity to leave Arsenal for Hertha Berlin because he wants to move to a bigger club.

Guendouzi is currently on loan in the Bundesliga, and Sky Germany, via Sport Witness, claim Arsenal have offered Hertha Berlin the chance to sign the Frenchman permanently.

The figure mooted is £27million, which would see the Gunners make a profit of around £20m for the Frenchman, who was signed from FC Lorient in 2018.

But it doesn't look like Hertha Berlin are going to get the chance to accept the offer as Guendouzi apparently has other ideas.

The 21-year-old midfielder sees himself at a 'bigger' club and reportedly wants to play for a side that can at the very least offer him Europa League football.

The news may come as a boost to some Arsenal fans, who would like to see the talented Frenchman return to the Emirates and succeed.

But Guendouzi's decision to snub Hertha Berlin on the basis they're too small for him suggests he's learnt little from his loan spell.

Guendouzi fell down the pecking order at Arsenal following a defeat by Brighton in 2020.

The Frenchman lost his head in the match and ended up throttling fellow countryman Neal Maupay, for which he should have seen red.

After the game, Brighton players alleged that Guendouzi even taunted them for how little they earn as a group in comparison to the Arsenal stars.

Arteta immediately removed Guendouzi from his first-team set-up, and the Frenchman never played again for Arsenal before being sent on loan to Hertha Berlin.

There is definitely a player there, where Guendouzi is concerned, and his self-confidence is what enabled him to break into Arsenal's first team at the age of just 19, despite being signed as a youth prospect.

But his confidence sometimes borders on arrogance, and it seems Arteta removed him from his Arsenal set-up and sent him on loan to Hertha Berlin in order for him to learn some humility.

This latest update that he reportedly considers himself to be too good for Hertha Berlin, while in some ways ambitious, suggests Guendouzi hasn't learnt much from his loan experience. And this is bound to go down badly with Arteta.
