Home Alone's Macaulay Culkin has joined calls to edit out Donald Trump from the much-loved series' second film.

Macaulay, now 40, was a child when he appeared in the franchise as Kevin McCallister, a mischievous little boy who's accidentally left at home by his parents over Christmas.

And in the second instalment, Home Alone 2: Lost In New York, Kevin's wandering in the Plaza Hotel causes him to cross paths with the future President of the United States.

Trump has one line of dialogue, giving lost Kevin directions.

And amid his second impeachment in his four year presidency, Macaulay is "sold" on digitally replacing Trump's cameo with an older version of himself.

The US House of Representatives voted to impeach by 232 to 197 for inciting insurrection after thugs who support him stormed the Capitol Building.

"Incitement of insurrection" was the charge the articles of impeachment presented to the House today, House Speaker and Democrat Nancy Pelosi branding him " a clear and present danger to the nation that we all love."

Trump is accused of encouraging violence, though did appear in a video to urge non-violence recently.

Home Alone 2 director Chris Columbus previously claimed Trump "bullied" his way into the film.

In an interview with Insider, he said that Trump insisted he get a role in the film in return for letting them film in the famous hotel.

Chris added: "When we screened it for the first time the oddest thing happened – people cheered when Trump showed up on screen.

"So I said to my editor, 'Leave him in the movie. It's a moment for the audience.'"

Meanwhile, a petition has been launched to replace Trump's cameo with one of President-Elect Joe Biden, who beat Trump in last year's election.
