David Mitchell has revealed that Robert Webb's heart operation has brought them closer together.

The Peep Show duo have reunited once again for more laughs on Channel 4 but their real-life relationship has also undergone some changes.

Speaking in a new interview with Radio Times, the comedy duo have discussed how their professional and personal relationship has evolved over the years.

Yet, after recently Robert, 48, recently received heart surgery and recovered following a health scare, it has had a profound effect on the pair's dynamic.

Speaking ahead of the premiere of the second series of their sitcom Back on Channel 4, 46-year-old David revealed: "It’s always easier to be nice about Rob to other people, so I can say to you that Rob’s heart operation has reminded me how grateful I am to have him in my life."

He adds that he finds "paying compliments extremely difficult", but now realises the importance of complimenting a performer even if it does not come to him naturally.

Meanwhile, Robert explained: "Between about 2005 and 2007, David was the first vertical person I saw in the morning and the last at night.

"We got through it by not having The Row. If we’d had The Row, things would've been said that couldn't be unsaid, which would have been a great pity for our friendship and our careers."

Robert described what the pair had as "rare" but admits that it was not always easy.

Thankfully their time apart now gives Robert "pleasure" when he does see David.

Speaking on The Graham Norton Show on Friday, David humorously noted: "She's the first of the Oscar winners from Peep Show."

He revealed, however: "I was surprised how thrilled i was when she won. It was brilliant…but it felt a bit insane."
