Scarlett Moffatt's mum Betty lifted 'thousands' from her daughter's accounts in a desperate bid to fund her own online gambling addiction.
The 50-year-old Gogglebox star, who has worked as Scarlett's PA since her daughter won I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2016, stole thousands of pounds from the bank accounts as her habit spiralled out of control during the first lockdown.
Having thrown thousands of pounds a week of her own money into the bottomless pit of her addiction, desperate Betty then turned to Scarlett's accounts.
Keeping the extent of her illness from Scarlett, Betty continued lifting money from her daughter's pot, each time believing she'd be able to pay it all back with a big win.

But when her luck failed to change, Betty was forced to come clean to Scarlett and expose what she'd been doing after Scarlett grew concerned about what had happened to her bank balance.
A source close to the family, who first found fame on Channel 4's Gogglebox, said the confession left Scarlett "betrayed and confused".
"But once Betty broke down and explained what had happened Scarlett couldn't have been more supportive," the insider told the Sun.
She arranged for her mum to check into rehab for treatment and her dad Mark Moffatt has rallied to his wife's side to help support her through her post-rehab recovery.

"Scarlett has done lots of research into the perils of online gambling and hopes that by this story coming out she and Betty can help others in a similar position," the source added.
"She's determined to come out the other side and for some good to emerge from this heartbreaking situation."
Scarlett and Betty's bond has been clear to see ever since their Gogglebox days, and the pair grew even closer as Scarlett stepped into the spotlight.

The young reality star affectionately referred to Betty as her 'mamager' and gave her shares in Scarlett's company, Northern Unicorn Productions, which currently holds £211,000 in its accounts and last year paid out £240,000 in dividends to its sole director: Scarlett.
The mum-daughter duo celebrated Betty's 50th birthday with a lavish surprise party in August, when Scarlett brought in a pop-up pub for the garden and invited 30 of their nearest and dearest under the then-coronavirus restrictions.
But since then, Betty has barely been seen on her daughter's social media accounts, with her own last Instagram post published on June 23, 2020.
However, a separate source told us that the family are supporting Betty through her post-rehab treatment.
Scarlett's rep declined to comment when approached by The Mirror.
