“I’m dead chuffed with how she’s getting on. She is doing really well.

"Because of lockdown I haven’t been able to see Jess and Noa as much as I would like but we are all backing her to win."

Jessica's character Chantelle was killed off in September when she tried to leave her abusive husband but her escape plan fell apart.

Also nominated was Corrie's Shelley King, who plays Yasmeen Nazir

During a row, Gray pushed Chantelle with all his strength in the kitchen, and she fell into the dishwasher.

The dishwasher collapsed underneath her and she fell on the broken items inside, before slowly bleeding to death as Gray failed to get help.

Jessica beat off stiff competition from Coronation Street's Shelley King, who plays Yasmeen Nazir, Hollyoaks' Jennifer Metcalfe, who plays Mercedes McQueen, and Emmerdale's Natalie J Robb, who plays Moira Dingle.

Also up from Corrie was Jane Danson, who plays Leanne Battersby, Sally Carman, who plays Abi Franklin.

Emmerdale's other nominees were Emma Atkins, who plays Charity Dingle, and Lisa Riley, who plays Mandy Dingle.

EastEnders' other nominated stars were Kellie Bright, who plays Linda Carter, and Shona McGarty, who plays Whitney Dean.
