Eastenders Danny Dyer feared he was being set up for a horror prank when future wife Jo asked him out.

The soap star was terrified she planned to have pig’s blood tipped on his head, like in 1976 Stephen King film Carrie.

Speaking to daughter Dani on podcast Sorted with the Dyers he said Jo, who he met when they were both 14, asked him out after ignoring him for years.

Danny said: “I was the trampy kid and your mum was the coolest kid. I had nothing going for me. She must have had some psychic dream and knew I was going to be a success.”

He added of Jo’s pal asking him out on her behalf: “I thought it was going to be like Carrie, she was going to set me up in some sports hall and tip pig’s blood on me. But no, she took me to Pizza Hut. It was amazing.”
