The PlayStation 5 finally went on sale this week, after months of anticipation.

Eager gamers flocked to purchase the console, with many retailers selling out within minutes.

Now, several reports from customers who pre-ordered the console from Amazon UK indicate that kitchen appliances are being sent out instead of the PS5.

Freelance journalist Bex April May claims that she was sent an air fryer instead of her PS5.

She tweeted an unveiling video, writing: “Happy #PS5 day everyone. Tried to document our one’s unveiling, but Amazon have tricked us with an unsolicited air fryer instead (after giving delivery password). Anyone else had this problem today?

Bex says that her delivery was fake ‘missed’ earlier in the day, and believes her PS5 may have been ‘siphoned off’.

She added: “Delivery was fake ‘missed’ at midday with a ‘we couldn’t deliver’ message (with no attempt at delivery made). Now looks like it was siphoned off then before reappearing this evening, replaced with an air fryer inside.”

Several other Amazon customers have reported similar issues.

Another wrote: “My PS5 console never arrived today even after tracking it via the Amazon UK app all day. I did however received my extra dualsense controller and charging cradle.

“Now Amazon UK say I have to wait until Saturday for it to be reported lost or stolen. Absolutely disgusting.”

Meanwhile, on Reddit, one user claims that his PS5 may have been stolen by his Amazon delivery driver.

User Adgej123 said: “Hi all got despatched today and has been on the way. Just tracked the driver and saw he was a couple of houses away on the map. Next thing the van rolls up, backs up to my drive then stops.

“Driver doesn't get out, pauses for 10 seconds then drove away. Package then said handed to resident and delivered. Furious, how is best to contact Amazon?”

Mirror Online has contacted Amazon for comment.
