Little Mix could be on the verge of splitting after Jesy Nelson takes time away from the group for "medical reasons".

The pop superstars could all be going solo next year, after it was reported that Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock have all individually been in secret talks to launch separate careers when their current deal comes to an end.

There had been concerns about 29-year-old Jesy's future after she missed several appearances with the band in recent weeks, including the final of their BBC One talent show The Search and their hosting gig at the MTV Europe Music Awards.

Amid growing concern from fans, a spokesperson for the group confirmed her temporary departure in a statement.

A source has said that Perrie and Jade, who are both 27, are looking at new music projects while 29-year-old Leigh-Anne has reportedly been discussing TV ideas.

The source added that this would not be the end of Little Mix but an opportunity for them all to explore what the future could be like away from the band.

With the winners of their BBC talent show due to tour with the band in April next year, the source said that even if this is delayed by the coronavirus pandemic, they will "still complete it."

The source reportedly stressed that there is "absolutely no fall-out between them" and that they are all "get on very well as great friends."

Little Mix have been one of the biggest pop acts since they were formed on The X Factor in 2011.

They have since produced six albums and six world tours, selling more than 50 million records in the process and clocking up four No 1 singles.
