There was welcome good news for Gallagher Premiership fans on Wednesday as league organisers announced that all matches in the 2020-21 season that are played behind closed doors will be broadcast live on BT Sport.
With the new campaign beginning this weekend, subscribers will be able to follow all six games in each round of games. The decision mirrors the deal that was in place after the league resumed in August.
BT Sport also unveiled a ‘Match Pass’ scheme, whereby eligible season ticket holders will gain free access to their side’s home Premiership matches on its app until Christmas (Round 4) when the provision will be reviewed.
The ‘Match Pass’ will allow season ticket holders who do not already have a BT Sport subscription to watch their side’s home matches, if they cannot attend in person due to the current coronavirus restrictions.
Premiership Rugby advised in a statement on Wednesday, however, that eligibility for it is at the discretion of individual clubs and all season ticket holders should contact their clubs for more information.

The 2020-21 season begins on Friday, with reigning champions Exeter Chiefs travelling to the Twickenham Stoop to face Harlequins. An hour later on the same evening, Sale Sharks host Northampton Saints before the remaining four fixtures are played out over Saturday and Sunday.
Mark Brittain, chief commercial officer at Premiership Rugby, said: “Our fans are the lifeblood of the game so while matches are being played behind closed doors it was crucial we gave them access to watch Gallagher Premiership Rugby live on BT Sport.
“I’m delighted that BT Sport shared in this vision and, in partnership with our clubs, we can also provide the added benefit of ensuring eligible season ticket holders will be offered free access to their club’s home games on the BT Sport app for the first four rounds.”
