Two Liverpool fans miss Genk win after going to GENT instead – but Belgian club offer them tickets to Wolfsburg game

TWO LIVERPOOL fans missed their Champions League win over GENK after accidentally travelling to GENT instead.

The unlucky pair missed the Reds' 4-1 win on Wednesday night but Gent have offered them tickets to their Europa League clash against Wolfsburg tonight in an attempt to soften the blow.

Gent in east Belgium is 104 miles away from Genk in west Belgium where the game was taking place.

But the dopey pair only realised their mistake 30 minutes before kick-off so had no choice but to watch the game on TV in a nearby bar.

Train travel and match tickets set them back €150 and €70 each respectively.

The duo are yet to be identified but KAA Gent – the closest club to the city they were in – made a kind offer to try and make up for their wasted trip.

After hearing of the news they offered them tickets to their Europa League clash with Wolfsburg tonight.

The club tweeted: "If anybody knows these two or has their contact details, tell ‘em they’re invited for our game against VfL Wolfsburg tonight."

And clearly unsuccessful in their attempt to find the men, the club tweeted again this morning.

It read: "Morning @LFC, congrats on the win yesterday. Oh and by the way could you give us a little help in finding these two Scousers who got a little confused yesterday? #gnkliv #genliv #gntwol."

Over in Genk where the game was taking place, Liverpool were forced to condemn their own fans after an obscene racist banner depicting Divock Origi was unfurled in the away end.
