England moved a step closer Euro 2020 qualification but their 6-0 victory in Bulgaria was overshadowed by the torrent of racist abuse directed at their players in Sofia.
The European Qualifier was on the brink of abandonment in the Bulgarian capital following two first-half stoppages during which announcements were made for racist chants to stop.

The latest episode of racism in football marred a stunning attacking performance from Gareth Southgate’s side as braces from Ross Barkley and Raheem Sterling and strikes from Marcus Rashford and Harry Kane left the Three Lions three points clear at the top of Group A and on the cusp of qualification for next summer’s tournament.
