It has been confirmed that Spence Jr, 29, was not wearing a seatbelt before being thrown out of the supercar as it crashed.
The American was taken to hospital in a serious condition and is expected to survive.
Police in Dallas, Texas, confirmed: “At 2:53am a Ferrari travelling at a high rate of speed northbound in the 500 S. Riverfront Blvd.
"The Ferrari veered left over the centre median onto the southbound lanes and flipped multiple times ejecting the driver who was not wearing a seatbelt.
"The cause of the accident is undetermined at this time.”
Spence Jr's last professional fight, only a fortnight ago, saw him win the WBC world title alongside retaining his IBF belt after 12 rounds with Shawn Porter.

On Wednesday night, the New Yorker's Instagram account showed him and a friend dancing in a nightclub.
And his Ferrari was the only car involved in the shocking smash.
It is understood his parents are at his bedside while he recovers although his car was left completely mangled by the incident.
Boxing fans will be very familiar with Spence Jr after his epic encounter with Porter last month, won on a split decision.
