Goal-shy Man Utd flops blame coach McKenna for lame attack and are ‘unconvinced’ by training methods

MANCHESTER UNITED'S senior stars have lost faith in attacking coach Kieran McKenna as results continue to stagnate.

A run of seven goals in ten games has magnified the training methods undertaken at Old Trafford and fresh reports claim many are "unconvinced" by the 33-year-old.

According to Metro, McKenna was the man tasked with producing the goals in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's 4-2-3-1 formation.

But match preparation methods are falling short of what is required at a major club.

The Northern Irishman is relatively inexperienced despite almost a decade in the Spurs setup after a chronic hip injury prematurely ended his playing career.

United signed him up in 2016 and he quickly progressed from the Under-18s to become a member of Jose Mourinho's staff.

Solskjaer's arrival led to an increased emphasis on youth and the plan was for McKenna to step up as one of the Norwegian's chief assistants who knew the starlets coming through.

And while his presence has reportedly helped the likes of Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong settle in, the more senior pros are less impressed.

Fans have criticised the Red Devils for the painfully slow build-up play and the squad is said to be well aware of their lack of plan B.

Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez were allowed to leave in the summer with increased pressure laid on Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and the youngsters as a result.

Finally played through the middle, Martial netted two goals and an assist before getting injured and Rashford has been unable to match that record.

Furthermore, Mason Greenwood is yet to start in the league despite netting twice in the cup competitions.

Daniel James has proved a shining light but a run of three goals in his first four appearances proved unsustainable and he too is now struggling to find the net.
