And after an internal investigation, the Ligue 1 decided to sack their forward with immediate effect.
Now Diaby-Fadiga has joined the second-division side Paris FC on a free transfer and agreed to reimburse Dolberg for the watch.
Nice said in a statement: "Following the confession of the player, the Club made the decision to break the contract of the attacker… with immediate effect.
"Beyond any sporting and financial considerations, OGC Nice can not afford to accept such behavior and to ignore such a fault.
"It is about his credibility, about the trust that unites all his employees and, more broadly, all the members of the red and black family."
The striker, 21, was fuming when his timepiece was stolen on September 16 and reported it to police.
In a hugely embarrassing incident for Nice, their prodigy Diaby-Fadiga admitted to the theft and was interviewed.
It is also reported that video surveillance footage emerged of the nicking taking place while Nice and Dolberg are expected to drop the criminal investigation.
Diaby-Fadiga is one of the most promising prospects in France and was at the club from the age of 13, making his senior debut three years later.
